Short version: yes, your rental has a TV, and yes, it works. The longer version is worth a minute, because how people watch TV has changed and a few small things will make your evenings easier.
Use Your Own Streaming Accounts
Most of our rentals have smart TVs, which means you are not stuck with whatever happens to be on. Sign into your own Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Prime Video, or whatever you use at home, and your profiles and watch history all come along for the ride. The only thing we ask: sign back out of everything before you check out. It protects your accounts, and the next guest does not need to inherit your viewing habits.
If Your App Is Not on the TV
Every TV is a little different, and now and then a particular app just is not installed on the one in your rental. The easiest fix is to bring your own streaming stick. A Fire TV Stick or a Roku Streaming Stick plugs into any HDMI port, sets up in a couple of minutes, and gives you the exact apps you have at home. If you travel even a few times a year, one of these lives in your bag and you never think about rental TVs again.
Free Stuff Already on the TV
No subscriptions? You still have plenty to watch. Most smart TVs come with free, no-login services built right in:
- Pluto TV and Xumo – free live channels for news, movies, and sports
- Tubi – a deep library of free movies and shows, ad-supported but genuinely free
- The Roku Channel and Samsung TV Plus – free content built into the TV itself
- YouTube – good for the kids, and for talking yourself into a ghost tour later
What About Cable?
Some of our rentals still carry a traditional cable package and some have moved to streaming only. If live channels or sports are a must for you, ask us before you book and we will tell you exactly what your rental has. Most guests find they do not miss it, between their own subscriptions and the free options above.
Worth Tossing in Your Bag
None of this is required, but each one has saved somebody an annoying evening:
- A spare HDMI cable – for plugging in a laptop, a console, or your own device when the rental cable has seen better days
- A pair of Bluetooth headphones – for the night owl or the early riser who would rather not wake the whole house
- A universal remote – rental remotes have a talent for vanishing into couch cushions, and a backup costs less than a frustrating night of menu buttons
- A Chromecast – if you like casting from your phone and the TV does not already support it
If the TV Will Not Cooperate
Start with the boring checks: is it plugged in, is the right input selected, does the remote still have life in it. That solves it more often than you would think. If you are genuinely stuck, call us at 904-429-7373 and we will walk you through it or send someone if it needs a real fix.
Questions About Your Rental?
Every property is set up a little differently. If you want to know exactly what is waiting for you, the TV setup, cable, or anything else, just ask when you book. And then go see the fort at least once before you settle in for a movie.
