Historic downtown brings food, shopping, museums, art galleries, ghost tours, bayfront walks, and the shops along St. George Street. The Castillo de San Marcos anchors the historic district as the oldest masonry fort in the country and makes an easy outing on a day away from the beach. That is the balance guests like here, a true beach home base with the old city close enough for spur of the moment trips.
