Coffee
Coffee?
Coffee!
One of my favorite ‘frequently asked questions‘ is whether we provide coffee makers in our rentals. That’s an emphatic yes – all of the St. Augustine vacation rentals offered by First Choice Florida have coffee makers in them.
If you can believe it, I’ve even had people call before booking to find out which type of coffee maker is in the home. It’s a valid question, I suppose. I’m personally a traditional flavor drip coffee person, but I can understand your need for a one-cup off-the-wall flavor.
Unbeknownst to anyone else who works here, I’ve recently compiled a list of what coffee makers are where. I considered publishing it here, but eventually this page would get forgotten, and the list would end up out of date. So instead, I’ll just detail what kinds we have in the homes.
Regular Drip Coffee Makers
I put this one at the top, because it’s what I use. These were the primary coffee makers in American homes for a few decades at least, filling the gap between the percolator and the Keurig.
These machines use traditional ground coffee, most of the time with a disposable filter.
I like the way you can get a cheater cup before the whole pot has finished brewing, and how it will be strong enough to make you hear colors.
Keurig / K-Cup Machines
These fancy things revolutionized coffee making in the 2000s. It went from a new concept to a buzzword to full implementation in no time.
There’s controversy over the plastics. There’s the purists (like me) who won’t give them a chance. Neither of those things have deterred the growth of the K-Cup industry, where their store shelf real estate grows by the month.
That growth seems to be convenience. Coffee comes pre-flavored, pre-sweetened, and in so many varieties you can’t ever possibly catch them all.
Dual Coffee Makers
This is what I should have in my house, but again, I’m stubborn on this. My wife would really like the K-Cup option, and I could still brew my purist pot.
Yes, a Dual Coffee Maker does exactly what you think it does – it makes coffee in two different ways. Someone can have their prissy flavors, and someone else can have coffee at the same time. It really is a win.
Buying Coffee
A few days before your scheduled arrival, we will e-mail you some information about your rental. Things like the door codes, where to park, how to connect to the wifi, and what type of coffee maker is in your rental.
There are lots of places to buy coffee while you’re here. We have a list of grocery stores that are close to our rentals, see that here.
You can also order online. Both Walmart and Amazon will deliver right to your rental home. Once you’ve received the e-mail from us, you’ll have the rental property address, and you’ll know where to have your coffee shipped.
